Overall, the AntiCancer 360 approach doesn’t rely on just one anticancer diet. We select one of five different diets always taking into consideration each client’s case and situation.

Many studies are inviting us in the direction of eating mostly “whole foods” – that is, foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. Eating more whole foods is our best plan of action to improve our health and prevent disease [1].

And in contrast to more restrictive diets like the ketogenic diet and plant-based diet, everyone can do a whole-food diet.

So today’s recipe is excellent for those who are following a whole-food diet and would like to increase its anticancer potential.

Both the dates and the frozen banana in this recipe give a natural sweetness and a creamy texture to our shake while the cacao powder is responsible for the chocolaty goodness.

Even without any protein powder, the chia seeds and peanut butter are the protein-packed addition that makes this recipe so satisfying.

We also added some gluten-free oats for fiber and spinach for an extra cancer-fighting boost.

You will also find some amazing anticancer ingredients in this tasty, chocolaty meal:

  • Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are an excellent source of polyphenols and antioxidants, like the caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, myricetin, and quercetin. Flavonoids like quercetin, chlorogenic acid, and caffeic acid have shown to have anti-cancerogenic, anti-hypertensive, and neuroprotective abilities [2],[3]. Chia seeds are also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids. During chemotherapy, omega-3 fatty acids may contribute to a reduced inflammatory response. Other studies have also indicated that omega-3 fatty acids may increase the response rate of chemotherapy [4].
  • Dates: Studies have shown that natural substances found in dates can act as potent antioxidants, anti-tumour as well as provide anti-inflammatory effects [5]. Dates contain many cancer fighting components, such as fiber and phytonutrients like carotenoids, phytosterols, polyphenols, flavonoids, phytoestrogens, and low amounts of anthocyanins [6]. Another study highlighted that the greatest cancer fighting potential for dates may lie in the application of its antioxidant effects to amelioration of adverse effects of the standard chemotherapeutic treatments [7].
  • Oats: Oats are a unique source of avenanthramides (AVAs), a group of polyphenolic alkaloids. Studies have identified the chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic potential of AVAs. One study stated that AVAs may prevent cancer by reducing oxidative stress and different activating apoptosis and senescence (i.e.death of cancer cells and old cells,) blocking cancer cell growth, and by inhibiting cancer metastasis [8].
  • Spinach: The natural bioactive compounds found in spinach, have the potential to minimize oxidative stress, affect  genes involved in the metabolism, proliferation, inflammation, and antioxidant defense. It can also reduce food intake by stimulating the secretion of satiety hormones. All these biological activities contribute to the anti-cancer, anti-obesity, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic properties of spinach [9].
